The scaffold is down on our new house on the banks of loch Awe and it’s looking great. Really great.
Preston Mosque /
We had the pleasure of collaborating on a scheme for a new mosque in Preston with local boy Lee Ivett and it’s delivered a great bit of work. Will it win? The chances are slim but it’s thrown up a lot of ideas that will be explored further in other new projects.
Drawings For Food /
The office has launched a new initiative today to help raise funds for local food charity Poot It In Yer Bag through offering consultations in exchange for donations to the charity. We hope to raise hundreds of pounds over the coming months to ensure that local Hackney families have the food they need to keep their children healthy. Head to our instagram feed for more information and booking details but in the meantime see here for more about the charity:
New Project /
We have been commissioned to start work on the conversion on an old farm in Suffolk and have established a great working relationship with our clients through looking at the strategic plan together. We are looking forward to developing our thoughts over the summer months.
Planning Approved /
We are delighted to have received planning approval for a small house on the isle of Tiree on the west coast of Scotland. We are now working closely with a timber kit manufacturer to develop the design to construction.
This month we were also delighted to hear we were shortlisted for the RIBA MacEwen Award which celebrates architecture for the common good. The Floating Church will, we hope, do much good in its lifetime.
South Downs Barn /
Work continues on our barn conversion in the South Downs National Park and we look forward to completion in early summer and we hope sharing some completed photographs.
Hebridean House /
We are developing another house for the western isles and utilising Revit to test economies in the development of detailed design early in the process. The house will merge living space with a winter garden and workshop to create a unique living environment that responds to the local microclimate and context.
Hackney has awarded us one of their much coveted Hackney Design Awards for the Floating Church this month, which means a great to us. Amazing to have recognition on our home turf. Well done to all the winners and the judges for impeccable taste.
Hackney City Farm /
Denizen Works are collaborating with the team at the farm to develop a small wood workshop and office space as part of our commitment to the local community. These sketches should develop into a complete building over the next few months and we look forward to getting our hands dirty as we will be involved in the construction of the small structure. Part of the project involves material research and we are looking to explore paper felt as a cladding material, combining function and appearance in a single approach.
Sustainability Centre /
We are delighted to have been commissioned to develop some feasibility options for a new sustainability centre near Rutland Water that will integrate sustainability and education into an area of natural meadow.
Not a barn conversion start on site /
Our barn conversion in the South Downs National Park started on site this week and we are looking forward to seeing our alternative take on a barn conversion take shape over the next few months.
Ardteatle Site Progress /
Construction continues (socially distanced) on site at Ardteatle. It’s starting to take shape.
Southwark Framework /
It feels like we have taken a big step this month by taking a place on Lot 7 of the LHC Architecture Framework that we hope will lead to a number of commissions across the whole of London.
Logan House submitted for planning /
Our latest project on the Isle of Tiree has been submitted for planning, a small family house slotted into this agricultural concrete ruin. More later.
