The AJ featured our latest offering for the NTS in the Cairngorms last week and you can read it here.
Ardteatle Progress /
Work has stopped on site at Ardteatle but we are looking forward to getting started again once rules on construction are softened and it is deemed safe to work. It is great to see some of framed views of the landscape emerging in the timber kit.
In other news, we have submitted nearly 60 new homes for planning for Brick by Brick in Croydon. These new socially rented units represent a step up in scale for the office and we are looking forward to sharing the schemes in the coming months.
AF Congregation /
Denizen Works are delighted to be included in the AF Congregation exhibition this month which features the best of religious architecture around the country. More details can be found here.
BxB /
Working with Brick by Brick in Croydon continues to be a joy as we develop three very different sites, and therefore approaches, that will be submitted for planning permission in the Spring of 2020.
More Close, Purley /
We are delighted to have submitted a planning application for a pair of villas on a steeply sloping site in Purley. Working closely with a developer client, the proposals use the suburban character and materials as the prompt for the development of a pared back, but texturally rich proposal.
King's Road /
Work has begun on sketches for a new shop on the King’s Road for a major textile company and we are excited to be exploring ideas about the evolution and life of the products on sale.
Congregation /
Genesis, our newly named floating church, has been selected for inclusion into the AF’s forthcoming exhibition on religious architecture in the UK. More details to follow in the new year.
Hand Held to Super Scale /
Haddo Yard features in ‘Hand Held to Super Scale’ at the Building Centre until February 2020, an exhibition that celebrates the use of ceramics in contemporary architecture. You can see here for the exhibition website but you should go.
Rectory Lane Cemetery Bench /
Our designs for new seating to Rectory Lane Cemetery in Berkhamsted are currently in production and due for installation later this month. The benches are formed from 15mm thick galvanized steel bases with Cumaru hardwood beams spanning between to form the seat. Five benches are being fabricated, three of which will be installed in the cemetery's Garden of Remembrance.
TALKING HEADS /
This month Murray is heading north of the border to talk at this year's Archifringe event where our Frankentype model is again being exhibited. Closer to home, Murray is taking part in the LFA's Boundary Kucha and Andrew will be presenting the Floating Church at the Spiritual, Sacred, Secular conference at Westminster.
NLA AWARDS /
The Floating Church has been shortlisted in this year's NLA awards 'Culture' category. You can see the full shortlist and vote for the project in the 'People's Choice' category, here:
ROOF DELIVERY /
Progress on our Floating Church project continues apace and this month saw the delivery of the 8m long aluminium roof to Turks shipyard in Chatham. The roof will raise by 1.5m at its front edge to create a dramatic internal volume during worship, and flood the space with light.
ANT AND BEE /
Our latest project with Arrant Land, Ant and Bee, has now been granted planning permission. The two new-build houses are located on a backland site overlooking a nature reserve in Maidstone. The site is accessed via a low entrance off the street and the buildings have been conceived with simple, ‘light-touch’ structural principles to facilitate development. Anyone fancy a self-build project with us? Get in touch...
