Peabody Small Projects Panel

PEABODY SMALL PROJECTS PANEL

London, UK

In late 2013, Peabody invited entries from small offices across the country to submit designs for three live London sites to compete for 6 places on their small projects panel. Out of 350 entries, we were shortlisted for an interview and subsequently Highly Commended for our submission, narrowly missing out on a much coveted spot on the panel.

Our proposal, for the Pembury Estate in Hackney, is a soft edged building shaped by the difficult site conditions. At the ground floor we designed generous public spaces with community facilities connecting to the sports pitches to the north. The flats themselves are designed to focus on the living spaces with generous balconies overlooking the communal gardens. On the roof we proposed a nursery/crèche with allotments for the whole community.
