Harry's Garden - Leyton

COMMUNITY TUBE
Leyton, London

Denizen Works were invited by the London Underground and the Community Tube initiative to develop concept designs for Leyton Station in East London as part of an invited competition.

London Underground are keen to make underground stations more a part of community life and our project, Harry's Garden, looks to bring a bit of Leyton colour to the train platforms.

Looking at the construction of the underground lines, we are using recycled limestone and railway sleepers to create abstract planters along the westbound platform based on the tube map which was designed by Leyton son, Harry Beck.

These low maintainance planters will be topped with red succulents reflecting the colour of the central line and terminate in a community garden that will grow herbs and plants that reflect the diverse community of Leyton and give commuters the opportunity to grab a handful of herbs for their evening meal.
