NLA Awards by Murray Kerr

We were delighted to win an NLA Award in the 'Experiencing Culture' category for our Floating Church project, particularly from such a strong shortlist. Andreas Ruby from the International Jury said of the project:

"The Floating Church takes another typology - the boat - to create another experience that we would attribute usually to a building. I like the temptation powers of the building with its shining lights. There’s a notion of a treasure hunt. I love how the building tries to capture my attention. Even if you have no connection to religion it offers a space where you can go and meditate."

EASA Talk by Murray Kerr

Along with Rev Dave Pilkington we were asked to present the Floating Church project at the The Ecclesiastical Architects and Surveyors Association (EASA) annual AGM, held in St Mary Magdalene's Church, Paddington. The project was chosen as an example of 'blue sky thinking' and was very well received by the delegates.

We were honoured to receive a commendation for this year's Stephen Lawrence Prize for the Floating Church, which was announced as part of the Sterling Prize Ceremony in Coventry Cathedral. We were also thrilled to win the public vote for the best Cultural and Civic Interior at the Dezeen Awards with a landslide victory - thank you to all those that voted for us!

We Rise by Murray Kerr

We had a great time help facilitating the Brixton: My Creative Future workshop organised by We Rise Brixton and LHC at the 3Space International House in Brixton. The workshop was a wonderful opportunity to meet with a diverse group of local young people who are looking to become creatives and discuss about their future careers. We were very happy to be able to share our experience, but were also inspired by the diverse ideas the talented young students brought to the conversations. Looking forward to the next one.

New Project by Murray Kerr

We've just started work on an exciting new project centred around a collection of historic barn structures in East Sussex. We're looking forward to developing our thinking over the coming months to create a special home for our clients.

We had a great site visit up to the north east of Scotland to visit a site in Gairloch and are developing our thoughts on how to complement the landscape setting and surrounding architecture. Murray was at school with half the client, so we are on our best behaviour.

Preston Mosque by Murray Kerr

We had the pleasure of collaborating on a scheme for a new mosque in Preston with local boy Lee Ivett and it’s delivered a great bit of work. Will it win? The chances are slim but it’s thrown up a lot of ideas that will be explored further in other new projects.

The office has launched a new initiative today to help raise funds for local food charity Poot It In Yer Bag through offering consultations in exchange for donations to the charity. We hope to raise hundreds of pounds over the coming months to ensure that local Hackney families have the food they need to keep their children healthy. Head to our instagram feed for more information and booking details but in the meantime see here for more about the charity:

We are delighted to have received planning approval for a small house on the isle of Tiree on the west coast of Scotland. We are now working closely with a timber kit manufacturer to develop the design to construction.

This month we were also delighted to hear we were shortlisted for the RIBA MacEwen Award which celebrates architecture for the common good. The Floating Church will, we hope, do much good in its lifetime.
