A Good Week by Murray Kerr

It has been a good week for the practice.

We are very excited that House No.7 has made it onto a prestigious list of the best buildings in Scotland of the past century. You can see the full list here

On a slightly more modest scale, but just as exciting, Extension One has been shorlisted for the Don't Move, Improve! Awards 2016. You can read about our competition here

And some news slightly further afield, we have been working on designs for a teahouse in the village of Phortse in Nepal. The project is discussed here

Office Trip by Murray Kerr

Denizen Works enjoyed a quick visit to Scotland last week to see a few of our sites north of the border. It was also an opportunity for everyone to see House No.7 in the flesh. I think they liked it.

While we were on Tiree we also had the pleasure of showing the Argyll + Bute Sustainable Design Awards 2016 judges around House No.7. We find out if we have won one in January next year.

NLA Housing Competition by Murray Kerr

We are delighted to have our Really Free Schools concept on show at the NLA for the next few months as part of the NLA's Housing Competition. We entered 2 entries the second of which made the cut for publiishing in the accompanying book, but not the exhibition. We proposed to move St. Paul's to Primrose Hill.

Swain's Lane Planning Approval by Murray Kerr

We've just received news that our proposals for the renovation of a tired modernist building in Highgate have been approved by Camden Council. The building on Swain's Lane sits next to Dominic McKenzie's mirror clad building and the Manser Medal nominated Glass House by Eldridge Smerin. Our proposal is to over-clad the existing brick facade with a series of vertical charred timber fins, referencing the cemetery and woodland nature of the site. We're looking forward to this one starting on site and hope for it to be completed before the end of the year.

We have been approached to produce some ideas for a teahouse and meditation centre in Nepal. The proposed site is stunning and we're looking forward to working with the client to produce a special building.

Grand Designs by Murray Kerr

It was great to see House No.7 featured on Channel 4's Grand Designs last night. The episode, titled, 'Living in the Wild' showcased a series of projects undertaken in remote locations and we were flattered to hear Kevin describe the project as the future of architecture in remote locations. If you missed the show, it is available to watch on YouTube - the segment on House No.7 can be found from 38m 50s here

Bristol Architecture Centre by Murray Kerr

We were delighted to be invited to present this year's annual Stephen Lawrence Prize lecture at the Architecture Centre in Bristol. It was an enjoyable evening and it was great to see so many people interested in our work. A podcast of the lecture can be found here

We are pleased to announce that we have been selected for inclusion in the Architecture Foundation’s 'New Architects 3' book. The book recognises the best 100 British architecture practices established in the last decade. It's quite an honour and we can't wait to see the finished book.
