Hebridean House by Murray Kerr

Axos_Single.jpg

We are developing another house for the western isles and utilising Revit to test economies in the development of detailed design early in the process. The house will merge living space with a winter garden and workshop to create a unique living environment that responds to the local microclimate and context.

Hackney has awarded us one of their much coveted Hackney Design Awards for the Floating Church this month, which means a great to us. Amazing to have recognition on our home turf. Well done to all the winners and the judges for impeccable taste.

Hackney City Farm by Murray Kerr

Mk Options 3 MK.jpg

Denizen Works are collaborating with the team at the farm to develop a small wood workshop and office space as part of our commitment to the local community. These sketches should develop into a complete building over the next few months and we look forward to getting our hands dirty as we will be involved in the construction of the small structure. Part of the project involves material research and we are looking to explore paper felt as a cladding material, combining function and appearance in a single approach.

Work has stopped on site at Ardteatle but we are looking forward to getting started again once rules on construction are softened and it is deemed safe to work. It is great to see some of framed views of the landscape emerging in the timber kit.

In other news, we have submitted nearly 60 new homes for planning for Brick by Brick in Croydon. These new socially rented units represent a step up in scale for the office and we are looking forward to sharing the schemes in the coming months.

We are delighted to have submitted a planning application for a pair of villas on a steeply sloping site in Purley. Working closely with a developer client, the proposals use the suburban character and materials as the prompt for the development of a pared back, but texturally rich proposal.

Work has begun on sketches for a new shop on the King’s Road for a major textile company and we are excited to be exploring ideas about the evolution and life of the products on sale.
