GLADE
Cairngorms National Park, Aberdeenshire
Denizen Works created an exciting rangers’ base and visitor centre concept to act as a gateway to the Cairngorms National Park for the National Trust for Scotland.
The building is a square in plan with a profile designed to call to mind the gentle form of the Cairngorms valley
Clad in a seamless black liquid applied membrane, the elevations are animated by the shadows of the surrounding pine forest.
Internally, a man-made glade houses a curated landscape with specimen trees telling the story of the surrounding National Park and its history.
The building is designed to operate 365 days a year with the large covered outdoor spaces giving year round shelter from the Scottish rain.
Area: 900 m sq・ Budget: NA ・ Status: Ongoing
